About

At the start of the full-scale invasion, PEN Ukraine began recording the cases of Ukrainian cultural figures killed by Russia. In 2023, together with The Ukrainians Media, they started to publish individual stories in an ongoing series called “People of Culture Taken Away by the War.” In 2024, other state institutions and civic organizations joined the effort to preserve the memory of Ukrainian culture makers killed by Russia and to advocate for justice.
